Managing Implicit Bias Required Training
As part of UC's commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, the Managing Implicit Bias Series was created to increase awareness of implicit bias and reduce its impact at the University.

The Managing Implicit Bias Series is a six-course online training series that complements UC San Diego’s existing equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts. It is especially important for hiring managers and search committee members to be aware of implicit bias and how it impacts the way we work, interact with others, and make hiring decisions.

Who Should Complete:

Background Check
The EVCBO requires all new, rehire and transfer employees to complete a Background Check prior to hire. Background check results are valid for 90 days. Instructions will be provided to the employee upon acceptance of a job offer.

  • DOJ & FBI Live scan - $72

  • Consumer Report - Fees vary depending on the location of the applicant and the level of service. $25 processing fee added to all requests.

Executive Recruitment Services
Executive Recruitment Services provides comprehensive, national search firm services for high-level recruitments. The Executive Recruiter works with the hiring manager and search committee to get an in-depth understanding of the department needs and provides specific search elements to build a strong candidate pool.

Posting Advertising Options
All jobs are automatically posted on the UCSD Job Bulletin, UC Jobs, Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC), Diverse Jobs, and America's Job Exchange (AJE). Your HR Representative can provide additional paid advertising options and prices.

Reference Checks
We encourage hiring supervisors to consider using Skillsurvey for reference checks. This is an automated, online reference check which asks job specific, behavior based competency questions. Once the minimum responses are received, usually within two days, you will receive an analytical feedback report. Department cost is $35 per candidate (as of 3/14/2019).

Temporary Employment Services (Supervisors/Managers)
You may request a temporary employee
by completing an online request with Temporary Employment Services (TES). Notify your DSA and HR Representative when your temporary employee is selected. Your DSA will provide guidance on required training and provide business systems access. TES assignments have a limited number of working hours depending on the title code of the appointment.
